Crafting & Curse Words
A Blahaj for All Seasons
Each year, Maggie and I get a calendar each. I always get a Bob’s Burgers calendar and for the longest time, she got a Ship of the Line calendar from Star Trek. One year it was pulp horror art.
Last year, as I started learning to draw...
A Store? In THIS Economy?
I just wanted to drop a quick note here to announce that I’ve launched a store on the site!
Inktober 2023
My whole life I’ve wanted to be able to draw but never thought I had the “talent”.
Recently I started watching the ‘Makers/Crafting’ and ‘Art’ streams on Twitch and eventually came across Anthony Wheeler’s stream. He as a person and his community really inspired me to give things a try (I’ll write about the Chaotic Draw Along soon…probably). As I started dabbling, inktober was coming up so I decided to give it a shot and I managed to do all 31 days within the 31 days!
The Stitching Geek Podcast | Episode 12 | "Deep, DEEP Stash"
Had some audio issues so I had to cut in the audio from my camera here and there. Sorry about that but it's great to be back!
The Stitching Geek Podcast | Episode 11 | "Holes"
Apologies for the delay and the darker lighting this episode. The light I use to light up the yarn sort of...caught fire...so...yeah.
The Stitching Geek Podcast | Episode 10 | "Guppy Babies"
This week we talk about the current works in progress and the newest addition to my guppy family!
The Stitching Geek Podcast | Episode 6 | “Wiggly Bits”
Never fear! Episode 6 is here! This week I experiment with sound effects, show off some works in progress and take a dip in the frog pond.
The Stitching Geek Podcast | Episode 5 | “…Or is she?”
In this episode, we go over the very few knitting projects that have been worked on and then go on for ages about some fun books!
Stitching Geek Podcast - Episode One
Welcome to the first episode of my new video podcast! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while now and I finally got up the courage.
This is my first time doing a video project like this and trying to edit and all that good stuff. I can definitely see where improvements need to be made (the light reflecting in the glasses! The framing! Etc!) but overall I’m proud of it. Show notes after the video!
The Long-Tail Cast On
Y’all. We need to have a talk about the long-tail cast on.
Specifically, am I doing something wrong?
Strong Bad Shawl
Well, cool, I spent probably 40 minutes writing a post and it disappeared.
Sigh
On the 2nd, I started The Traveling Companion Shawl (Ravelry link) using some yarn I bought during the Eat. Sleep. Knit’s Black Friday secret sale.
A WIP & A Review
Earlier in the week, I learned it was supposed to snow a decent amount (I live outside of Portland, OR…it doesn’t snow much here). This of course meant I would need a hat. Therefore, I should knit one!
In 2 days.
I am nothing if not ambitious.
New Project
I have grown bored of the scarves. Turns out starting 3 knitted scarves, finishing a woven scarf and starting another woven scarf might have been overkill. Who could have guessed?
Lack of Control
The other day I decided to fully move my “pantry” from a cupboard in the kitchen to the coat closet in the entryway. It was the right thing to do, because now I can actually see the canned goods I have and easily get to them.
