An Exciting Weekend
Way back in the year of our lord, 2011, I bought a brand new Nissan Versa. I had become friends with this fellow up in Canada and we had talked about me coming to visit. In order to make such a trek, I’d need a reliable vehicle. While I was working at a job I hated, I was making decent money (for me) so I splurged on a fancy new car.
That fellow became my boyfriend the next month. And then my husband a few years later. The car, though, after dozens of trips to Canada, a few…mishaps…and general me not taking good care of it, needed to be replaced. Over the last few months, we had talked about getting a new car. I wanted something a bit bigger so we can haul bookshelves back from Ikea or holiday decorations to and from my parents’ place. (What? They have a garage and I have a 600 sq ft, 1 bedroom apartment).
After a rough week of not great news, I was distracting myself with researching vehicles. Originally I was considering a Kia Soul - my mother in law has one and it’s just the size I like. The newer versions though, were a bit too long. I looked at a Rav-4, a CRV, etc and nothing was really clicking until I peeked at what Jeep was bringing to the table.
And bring it they did.
I fell in love with the Jeep Renegade. From what I saw online, it appeared to be the size I was looking for (bigger than the Versa but not unwieldy) and hit all my aesthetic buttons (a more square back instead of that weird, elongated style that seems to be popular right now). After some back and forth with the dealership, we went in on Friday for a test drive and I was sold. We now own a 2019 Jeep Renegade and I’m SO happy!
The trips to Canada are going to be far more enjoyable. Assuming we ever get to leave the country again.
My favorite part so far, (other than the fact that it works and doesn’t shake and we can get in the trunk and that it’s brand new and has remote start and a keyless ignition) is the fun pops of orange inside the doors. I had considered a 2020 Renegade in that orange color but decided on the 2019 as it was still brand new and we got a better deal on it. Gotta love the dopamine hit from buying a new vehicle, am I right?
Fear not, I also got some knitting done!
I put several rows onto the Dudester Scarf and am really enjoying the pattern! The yarn is great too, even with that acrylic content.
