My Arrogance
Mistakes have been made. That’s all there is to it.
First I ripped back the Halloween scarf thinking that I could make it look better with my newfound knowledge of how SSKs are supposed to be knit.
There are no SSKs in that pattern.
It probably goes without saying that I didn’t realize this until after I ripped it all out. I’ve comforted myself here by claiming that I I wasn’t satisfied with how many stitches I cast on. Also, I think I need to see if there’s a way to make sure my k2togs look neater.
After a tiring weekend of working to de-clutter my tiny apartment, last night I decided I was going to cast on for the Strangling Vine Lace Scarf by Nicole Hindes (Ravelry Link) using some non-sparkly yarn. I grabbed the first skein and sat down to wind it up.
Several hours later, the yarn looks like this:
Reader, I have a swift. It is even set up and ready to go.
I don’t really have an excuse for why I decided to do it by hand. Other than I wanted a regular ball instead of a center pull ball because I wanted to put it in my yarn bowl. After hour 3 of trying to detangle, I realized I could have wound it up with the ball winder and then rewound it from that. Or just wound it into a ball from the swift.
Instead, I’m on day two of trying to untangle this mess.
Wish me luck!
